Crimson Peak The scene from ‘Crimson Peak’ shows different areas of the film such as the camera, lighting, mise-en-scene, and sound, but some of these have been used more effectively. The genre of the film is horror and the low-key lighting and how the director uses smoke and mist to add the atmosphere show this. In the scene, a lot of different types of shots were taken and they were taken at different angles. In the beginning, a medium shot was used because this shows that the character is in a comfortable position so in this part of the clip the audience thinks nothing bad is going to happen. Throughout the clip a lot of long shots have been used because it shows the setting or the sense of time, so therefore in ‘Crimson Peak’ it shows that its dark, so therefore because it’s the night time, people are more likely to have nightmares and this links with the genre horror because in horror films most of the time there is someone who is having a nightmare. ...

reflecting on the auteur theory: The power-point presentations allowed us to discuss the auteur theory and how different directors use it. This was beneficial because it allowed us all as a group to develop a deeper understanding of the auteur theory. Most of the groups were paired up with someone who based their presentation on a different director, but myself and Katie both based our presentation on Taratino and we thought that both being paired up and doing the same director was beneficial because we got a deeper understanding of how the auteur theory was used by Taratino and because we both presented our presentations to each other and we focused on different aspects. For example: Katie used videos to show where aspects of Taratino and where his theme vengeance was used throughout three films. on the other hand, I picked three films which were Pulp Fiction, Kill Bill and Reservoir Dogs and stated in detail how the auteur theory is used and links to each film. I think that both d...
Prisoner A nalysis In the scene from ‘Prisoner’ the camera at the beginning slowly zooms in, this is because it shows suspense because the camera is moving at a slow paste . The camera is filming from behind so therefore the focus will be on the ladies serving and the surrounding because we can't see the man's face. This makes is suspicious because the film is called prisoner and we can't see the prisoners face. The lighting in the scene is low-key lighting because its dark outside so therefore the weather is bad and because its night time. The low-key lighting can also present the face that the man is the prisoner and because he was in prison it could present darkness because that’s what he's used too. At the start the only lighting there is from the café, this allows the audience that are watching it to focus on the café because it stands out from the rest of the picture. You can also see the reflection of the car but because the car is...
